Patrick Brennan (Musical Director)
Patrick Brennan attained his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and as a professional bassoonist performed with Australia’s leading orchestras for 15 years before pursuing a career as a conductor. He participated in the Symphony Australia Conductor Development Program whilst directing a number school and community bands and symphonic wind ensembles. Through the Department of Education and Communities (DEC) Patrick was the founding Chief Conductor of the Northern Sydney Schools Wind Orchestra (NSSWO) and in 2010 Patrick established the Northern Sydney Symphonic Wind Ensemble (NSSWE) musical extension program.
Artistic Director of the Central Coast Conservatorium, Patrick executive produced Central Coast Opera’s Help Help the Globolinks and in 2014, co-produced and conducted the Concertante Ensemble’s production of Appalachian Spring. Patrick conducts the Central Coast Youth Orchestra and is a regular conductor and artistic advisor of the Central Coast Symphony Orchestra. Patrick is currently the Musical Director for the Opera in the Arboretum and Bouddi Bells working with stars from Opera Australia. In his capacity as a conductor and producer the Conservatorium delivers inspirational performance experiences to student musicians and the community.
As a music educator Patrick has worked within the DEC Arts Unit, in government and non-government schools as well as in tertiary institutions, including the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music. He was also the NSW representative of the Bassoon syllabus for the AMEB. As a member of the Curriculum Development Committee for the ANSWRC Patrick is currently developing a statewide curriculum for music students across regional NSW.
Working in partnership with the Sydney Opera House, through the ANSWRC, Patrick is part of the team responsible for producing and managing performance experiences for students from regional NSW with world class organisations such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra in creating workshop and performance projects with touring orchestras at the Opera House. As Artistic Director Patrick brings to the Central Coast Conservatorium his expertise in music education and performance. Patrick’s inspirational approach and passion for music education drives the Conservatorium to deliver excellence in comprehensive music education and performance to students and communities locally and statewide.
Tim Page (Director)
Tim’s long and varied career includes performing in over 30 opera productions for Opera Australia, Opera Queensland, Victoria State Opera, The London Savoyards, The New Zealand Opera Company and NSW University Opera. Being both an actor and singer he has been in demand for many leading roles in musicals including A Little Night Music (Henrik), Sweeney Todd (Pirelli), La Cage Aux Folles (Georges), Shout (Lee Gordon), The Producers (Max Bialystock) and Assassins (Zangara). Memorable roles in plays include Andrew Whyke in Sleuth, Sweeney in Dealer’s Choice, Danforth in The Crucible (Star Award) Baron Tusenbach in Three Sisters, and Lucky in Waiting For Godot. He spent six years as Dr Graham Steele in the television series The Young Doctors and had major roles in A Country Practice, Water Rats and All Saints. His films include The Everlasting Secret Family, Passion, The Road from Courain and Lilian’s Story. Tim spent 1988-93 in London and was in the original cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Aspects of Love, directed by Trevor Nunn, spent a year in Buddy and had seasons at Ipswich, the Bristol Old Vic and performed in a Royal Variety Concert before The Queen and Prince Philip. He recorded with the BBC Radio Orchestra and the cast recording of Aspects went double platinum. In 2009-10 Tim toured South Korea and Taiwan in Jekyll and Hyde playing The Bishop and in 2011 played Wargrave in Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. He recently played Utterson in Jekyll and Hyde and Scrooge in A Christmas Carol for GMS and for the past three years has been teaching at the Central Coast Conservatorium, Gosford, where he is currently Head of the Vocal Program. In 2013 he made two movies, Lead Me Astray and In Their Dreams, and directed Central Coast Opera’s first production, Help, Help, The Globolinks! Last year he played Warbucks in Annie and Andre in The Phantom of the Opera and has just finished a Sydney season of Sondheim’s Into The Woods. In 2016 Tim directed a new version of The Magic Flute which he created for Central Coast Opera and in 2017 he will direct Carmen
for CC Opera.
