44th International Viola Congress in September

18-Jul-2017

From September 1-5, Wellington NZ will host the 44th International Viola Congress.

Since its inception in 1973 the annual viola congress has been hosted mostly in Europe and North America. In 2001 however, Wellington was awarded the 29th Congress and since then it has also been hosted in Australia (2007) and in South Africa (2009).  In 2018 it will be hosted in the Netherlands.

Over twenty countries will be represented at the Wellington Congress in an action-packed five days of concerts, lectures, master-classes and panel discussions. The highlight of the congress will be the gala concert in the Michael Fowler Centre on September 4 with the NZSO, featuring three of the world’s leading viola soloists – Anna Serova (Russia/Italy), Roger Benedict (Australia) and Roger Myers (USA).
