Philip Rees OAM

CMP Teacher | Choir Master

Philip Rees fell in love with choral music as an eight year old when his parents were given a complete recording of Messiah. His work as a professional musician and teacher has encompassed a large range of styles and ensembles. As the musical director of the Central Coast Philharmonia he has conducted landmark performances including the Requiem by Peter Sculthorpe and Sir Karl Jenkins' Armed Man and also several Australian premiere performances of works by John Rutter (Feel the Spirit), Alexander L'Estrange (Zimbel and Ahoy), Karl Jenkins (Joy to the World). Philip is committed to music education and performance and in 2010 he was awarded the medal of the Order of Australia OAM for services to music.
