From the Events & Communications Manager

Our teaching term concludes on Saturday 23rd September.  The Admin office will be open the first week of school holidays (25th to 29th Sept) and then closed in the second week for a well earned rest.  Term 4 commences Monday 9th October.  There's still plenty happening for the remainder of the year, commencing with another wonderful fundraising concert from Charmian Gadd & Friends on Sunday 1st October.  If you have visitors on the Coast for the Long Weekend, that will be a great treat for them to see a quartet and trio arrangement of some of the best musicians you will ever hear. Donations are welcome at the door and will go towards the Conservatorium's student instrument fund.

So much to do, so much to see and hear.  Never a dull moment on the Central Coast!

Hollow Lands & Hilly Lands

An exciting line-up of local and international artists gathers to interpret original music introduced and presented by composer Adrian Bell. Adrian’s music will transport you through a host of moods, characters and colours.

He will sing Yeats’ The Song of Wandering Aengus and The Fiddler of Dooney, while his daughter Olivia (pic) will sing Blake’s The Lamb and The Tyger. Father and daughter come together for the duet Infant Joy.

The program’s newest work, Sonata for Viola and Piano, will feature Phillip Shovk on Piano.

The piece for solo cello, The Scorched Carpet – remembering Ibtihal, is a moving tribute to the artist, teacher and scholar Ibtihal Samarayi - an Iraqi refugee who used her extraordinary talents to convey to mainstream Australians what it is like to be an asylum seeker.  Ibtihal was a resident of Ourimbah and very involved in the arts community at University of Newcastle.  The piece will be performed by Hyung Suk Bae.

Hollow Lands and Hilly Lands is an opportunity to share delicious food, a glass of wine, a cup of tea or coffee with composer and performers in a relaxed, convivial atmosphere.
