Gadd & Shovk promise something out of the ordinary

06-Feb-2018 Performances that go beyond the ordinary …spiced with humour, imagination and sheer enjoyment!

Leading Australian pianist Phillip Shovk and internationally renowned violinist Charmian Gadd will present a program of Sonatas by Brahms, Debussy and Beethoven as well as duets for piano and violin from Tschaikowsky, Kreisler and Prokofiev on Sunday 18 February.

“Expect performances that go beyond the ordinary, spiced with humour, imagination and sheer enjoyment!”, says Charmain Gadd, Ourimbah born, now back on the Central Coast after an extensive career in Australian and abroad.

“Phillip and I have being playing together now for over 20 years, you can expect a repertoire than can only develop over that period of time.”
Phillip Shovk and Charmian Gadd were close personal friends and in making a CD a couple of years ago delved very deeply into the repertoire of violin and piano – which is exquisite!.

“This is a performance of the heavy, Germanic passion of Brahms; the faraway, dream-like colours of Debussy; the sparkle and elegance of Beethoven; and the ineffable melancholy of Tchaikovsky; with some Viennese schmaltz of Kreisler!”, explains one of Australia’s foremost concert pianists, chamber musicians, accompanists and pedagogues, Phillip Shovk.

Afternoon tea will be served.

The Concert is presented by Charmian Gadd and Friends.

All profits go towards the Conservatorium's Instrument Fund.

Tickets | Adults $20 | Students $10 | Con Students $5
