Two Central Coast Wind Ensembles perform alongside Australia’s most renowned flautist, Janet Webb27-Nov-2019
The Central Coast Concert Band and Gosford High School Premier Ensemble will feature along Sydney Wind Symphony concert “Curtain Up” on Sunday 1 December featuring Janet Webb, one of the most renowned flautists in Australia.
“This is an incredible opportunity for the Central Coast residents to watch two local wind ensembles perform alongside Sydney’s premier wind ensemble, says Patrick Brennan, Artistic Director of the Central Coast Conservatorium and Music Director of the Central Coast Concert Band.
The Central Coast Concert Band will present a program featuring the programmatic work Goddess of Fire which opens with the foreboding sounds of Hawaii's volcanoes, the powerful forces behind new lava flowing, the violence and devastation of eruption and a lyrical theme representing creation and beauty. Tijuana Brass in Concert features the trumpet section in a romp back to the 60's tunes of Herb Alpert followed by the ever-popular music of Les Miserables.
Many of the Central Coast Conservatorium students will be performing in this high-energy concert as part of the award-winning Gosford High School Premier Ensemble and Stage Band.
The concert is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW, Sydney Wind Symphony is proud to present Curtain Up, in collaboration with Central Coast Concert Band and Gosford High School Bands. This special concert program is part of an ongoing commitment to showcase Australian soloists, composers and wind ensemble music in Australia.
