Come and join acclaimed jazz and improvisation quartet Delay 45 and Central Coast Conservatorium of Music teachers Gerard Masters and Guy Strazz for a Tour Ready workshop and concert at Robert Knox Hall on Thursday 29 May. \nOne of Sydney’s premiere creative music ensembles\, Delay 45 will be joined by the CCCon Tutor Band – featuring  esteemed and nationally recognised composer/ performers piano and voice tutor Gerard Masters and Head of Guitar Guy Strazz – for a dynamic panel discussion\, workshop and live performance\, from 5pm onwards. \nThis free event is part of the Sydney Improvised Music Association (SIMA) Tour Ready mentorship program which aims to develop and maintain sustainable touring networks for jazz musicians\, presenters\, promoters\, festivals and venue operators. DESCRIPTION:Our Student Concert Series is an opportunity for Central Coast Conservatorium one-to-one students to perform with an accompanists for an appreciative audience in front of family and friends and a great opportunity to practise for upcoming AMEB exams! \nThis performance opportunity is open to all our one-to-one students who either learn at the Con or in our Schools Program\, giving students of all ages and ability the experience of playing their instrument or singing with an accompanist in front of an audience while learning tips on performance technique and stagecraft. \nTertiary students can choose to perform in these daytime concerts or the adult soiree. \nThere will be two student concerts offered (depending on numbers) – at 12pm and 4pm \nWe encourage all our students to take up this excellent extension opportunity\, to help hone their craft and discover the joy of performing for others. \nPast Student Concerts have included violinists as young as five up to high-school aged\, brass and wind students\, contemporary guitar students and adult bassoon and vocal students. \nThe concerts are held in Robert Knox Hall. The rarely played Verdi string quartet was the only chamber work written by the composer\, and its lush operatic style represents Verdi at the peak of his compositional prowess. DESCRIPTION:Requiem for the Living is a choral composition in five movements by Dan Forrest\, completed in 2013\, an extended setting of the Requiem. The composer writes that his piece tells “a narrative just as much for the living\, and their own struggle with pain and sorrow\, as for the dead.” \n\n\nBe prepared to let this music speak to your heart and to allow the silence to hover over you. SUMMARY:Symphony Central Coast | Prodigies Concerto Competition
DESCRIPTION:The concerto as a vehicle for virtuosic display flourished during the 19th Century\, becoming increasingly complex and ambitious works. While performances of typical concerto in the baroque era lasted about ten minutes\, those by Beethoven\, for example\, could last half an hour or longer. Concertos from all ages\, since their development in late 1600s\, have remained a conspicuous and important part of the repertoire for concert performances and recordings and this concert will feature the four soloists chosen from the Symphony Central Coast Concerto Competition. \nTo celebrate the 100th concert by the University of New South Wales Orchestra\, Joe Wolfe was given a simple brief: write a piece that was 4 or 5 minutes of fun\, using everybody\, and to not take up much rehearsal time. The result\, Circle of Fourths was inspired by the opening notes of the choral Old Hundredth\, (so named because its words are from Psalm 100)\, and a desire to explore the melodic and harmonic possibilities of successive intervals of fourths. \nIn Verdi’s opera Aida\, Radames leads the Egyptian army on its return following the victory over the Ethiopians. DESCRIPTION:Presented by Patron Charmian Gadd and the CCCoM \nJoin us on Sunday\, 28 September as master violinist and Patron of the Central Coast Conservatorium\, Charmian Gadd\, proudly joins us to present A Fiddler’s Feast\, a celebration of all things violin. \nThis is no ordinary concert\, it’s an immersive musical experience right here in the heart of Gosford. \n\nBe captivated by Mattieu Arama\, Concertmaster of Opera Australia\, performing some of the most thrilling and beautiful solos from the operatic repertoire accompanied by Phillip Shovk\n\n\nEnjoy a special screening from Handel’s Julius Caesar\, featuring violinist Tony Gault and countertenor Grahame Pushee\n\n\nExperience the brilliance of Brian Hong from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra\, dazzling audiences with Paganini and more accompanied by Ying Ho\n\n\nBe inspired by performances from talented young musicians\n\nThe celebration continues with informal violin performances\, where you’ll have the chance to see and even try these exquisite instruments. Violin makers and collectors will also showcase a fascinating display of rare and historic violins\, some new and some hundreds of years old. \nThe afternoon concludes with light refreshments in the Conservatorium Courtyard. It’s the perfect chance to connect with fellow music lovers and community members.\nEveryone is welcome! Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind event that honours the artistry\, history and magic of the violin. \nAbout Ticketing: \nThis is a pay what you can event. Guitarist Aaron “Baz” Flower brings virtuosic flair from projects like Danaides and his solo work AKA BAZ. Bassist Matthew Lamb adds depth with his versatile style\, shaped by his Sydney Conservatorium training and cross-genre experience. Drummer Toby Hall\, a veteran of 30+ recordings\, rounds out the trio with his rich history of performing alongside jazz greats at international festivals. \nNick Garbet is a celebrated Australian trumpeter\, composer\, and bandleader known for his warm tone and inventive style. A founding member of acclaimed groups like The Vampires and Garfish\, Nick blends jazz with global influences\, earning him the prestigious Freedman Jazz Fellowship in 2018. He has performed internationally and continues to shape Australia’s jazz scene through performance\, recording\, and education. \nThe Central Coast Conservatorium Jazz Ensemble is a diverse performance group open to high school and adult musicians. Under the direction of Ash Turner\, members explore jazz harmony\, improvisation\, and repertoire that includes jazz standards\, blues and soulful grooves.
