DESCRIPTION:Luigi Boccherini – String Quartet op 30 no 4\nGiuseppe Verdi – String Quartet\nGiovanni Sollima – ‘Viaggio in Italia’\n\nPCQ present a program showcasing three different facets of Italy’s rich musical tradition\, ranging from the elegance of virtuoso cellist Boccherini’s early quartet to Verdi’s glorious melodies and concluding with Giovanni Sollima’s nostalgic depictions of Italian life. The rarely played Verdi string quartet was the only chamber work written by the composer\, and its lush operatic style represents Verdi at the peak of his compositional prowess. Extended cello techniques are the common element between the Boccherini and Sollima works\, with each composer featuring the instrument in his own unique style. \nPurchase tickets for this event HERE

SUMMARY:Central Coast Philharmonia & Central Coast Youth Orchestra | Requiem for the Living
DESCRIPTION:Requiem for the Living is a choral composition in five movements by Dan Forrest\, completed in 2013\, an extended setting of the Requiem. The composer writes that his piece tells “a narrative just as much for the living\, and their own struggle with pain and sorrow\, as for the dead.” \n\n\nBe prepared to let this music speak to your heart and to allow the silence to hover over you. The musical score lays groundwork passion with careful crafting of the forces arranged in a composition that makes this 40-minute work become an extended prayer for healing. \n\nThe Central Coast Philharmonia combines with the Central Coast Youth Orchestra to pour their musical gifts into this work under the amazing hand of Patrick Brennan.\n\nA musical endeavour that is needed in the world today in times of grief and unrest – Requiem for the Living will hover over you transporting the listener on a journey of healing and peace. \nConcert Details \n\nDate: Saturday 23 August 2025\nTime: 7:45 PM\nLocation: St John the Baptist Catholic Church – 125 Blackwall Road\, Woy Woy\nTickets: Requiem for the Living \n
