Michael Murphy

Committee Member

Teacher, principal and educator who recognises the aesthetical and educational benefits of music in the classroom and encouraged students to explore and perform music.

Has prioritised performing arts by collaboratively writing school musicals, coordinating choirs, facilitating regional workshops and implementing instrument tuition programs. Recently retired from Holgate Primary School where he worked with the school community to build a hall which included a performance stage.

In 1996, he was presented a NSW Teacher of The Year Award.

Family connection to the Conservatorium started 30 years ago when his children participated in pre-school music classes giving them skills and confidence to progress to piano and violin lessons, choirs, rock bands, with one gaining qualifications as a music therapist.

Elected to the Board in 2019.
