Head of Program (Brass), Trumpet Teacher
Trish O’Hearn has been trained on trumpet and cornet to a Post Graduate level gaining her Bachelor of Music from Newcastle Conservatorium. She followed this with a Postgraduate in Performance (Grad Dip) from Sydney Conservatorium of Music and has since made her career in music education, teaching across all levels from beginner to advanced tertiary brass students. Trish enjoys encouraging students to discover new genres of music styles and work towards goals such as AMEB examinations and HSC recitals.
Trish is an accomplished cornet/ trumpet player performing with bands and orchestras locally, nationally and internationally for many years. She has been a part of championship community bands since she was young and is currently Principal cornet of Toronto Brass as well as a member of the award winning Central Coast Brass. This has led on to studies and guest playing overseas including at the New Zealand National Championships and successful overseas teaching tours with a prominent British band in 2015,16 and 17. Trish was also invited to be a member of National Australia Brass, performing various concerts including the International Brass festival in Melbourne and is a current member of Pacific Brass.
Trish enjoys freelance trumpet playing and has a particular interest in chamber music. She is a founding member of the brass quintet, Lakeside Brass and is a member of Symphony Central Coast.
Trish has her AMUS qualification and has been National Australian Flugel Horn Champion.
When not playing music, Trish is a busy mum with 3 children, loves bush walking, travelling and the company of her 2 dogs.
