Vanessa Couper

Flute Teacher

Vanessa Couper (nee Ropa) studied at the Sydney Conservatorium where she completed a Bachelor of Music (first class honours) in 2007 and a Masters of Music (Performance) in 2009 and a Master of Music Therapy at The University of Melbourne (2013). Vanessa has toured extensively overseas as Principal Flautist and Principal Piccolo with numerous orchestras performing in China, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy and The Netherlands, as well as nationally with chamber ensembles and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Vanessa has taught for over thirteen years in schools, at State Music Camps and within the Department of Education and Training (DET) Arts Unit. Vanessa’s music therapy experience in Australia includes working at Bear Cottage - a hospice for children with life limiting illness, Gosford Children’s Ward, Gosford Cancer Centre and The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. Vanessa’s expertise focus is currently on working with early intervention parent and child groups, adolescents and cancer setting work.
