SUMMER SCHOOL AGENDA

Monday 15th to Thursday 18th January 2018

Could everyone arrive as follows on Monday 15th January to the old courthouse at 45 Mann Street. You may park in the gravel “Staff” carpark in Georgiana Terrace behind “The Cottage”. This is a drop and go summer school.

After parking in Georgiana Terrace, walk down the hill and enter the main building either from Mann Street or via the driveway behind the courthouse, through the Colourbond Gate, and in through the back door – be sure to come to the reception area to register your arrival.

You may bring your lunch – clearly marked – to the reception area and we will put it in our fridge.

If you have an medications, you can also leave them with the receptionist. We will also check your emergency contact details at this point.

For those who have registered for Learn the Violin in 4 Days –
• Please come to the front office at around 8.30am on the first day – we will fit out your child for a violin. Subsequent days arrive by 9am (don’t forget to bring your violin each day)
• The morning lessons will commence from 9am on Monday through to Thursday.
• Lunches can be left at reception (if you are staying for lunch but leaving after 1.15pm)
• Please pickup from 12.30pm from “The Courtyard”, 1.15pm if you are staying for lunch, or 3.30pm if you are moving into the CMP program in the afternoons

For those who have registered for Strings Summer School –
• Please come to the front office at around 8.45am to register each day.
• You will then go into the Hall to be split into groups and given your music sheets (which you will take home to practice with).
• The morning sessions will commence from 9am on Monday through to Thursday.
• Lunches can be left at reception.
• Please bring your instrument, and accoutrements – we will supply chairs and music stands and music sheets.

For those who have registered for Children’s Music Full Days –
• Please come to the front office at around 8.45am each day – we will register your arrival and check your emergency contacts.
• All the Children will then be convened in “The Courtyard” and taken as a group to the Demountables where they will be taught. On subsequent days we will also follow this procedure so please come and check in your young children each day.
• Lunches can be left at reception.
• Please pickup from 3.30pm also from “The Courtyard”.

For those who have registered for Strings and CMP -
• Please come to the front office at around 8.45am to register each day.
• Lunches can be left at reception.
• You will then go into the Hall to be split into groups and given your music sheets.
• After lunch the children will be convened in “The Courtyard” and taken as a group to the Demountables where they will be taught.
• Please pickup from 3.30pm also from “The Courtyard”.

What to bring:
• A refillable water bottle
• Your lunch in a marked container if you would like us to keep it in the fridge for you
• Your instrument (unless you are receiving a violin in the Learn to Play the Violin in 4 Days program – NB you will be able to take home the violin in the evenings but you must complete a Hire Agreement if you do so)
• Games to play during lunch time – we will organise some activities but if your child prefers to play individually you may bring a device and charger which can be left at reception. Please ensure it is marked with a name.

We will provide:
• Morning tea of fruit and water
• Violins for Learn the Violin in 4 Days
• All instruments in the Children’s Music Program Summer School
• Afternoon tea of fruit and water
• We may also provide ice blocks if the weather is hot – please let the receptionist know on registration if you do not want your child to be given an ice block
• A clutch pencil for you to keep and bring each day
• Paper to write on
• Music stands
• First Aid officer
• All our teachers and administration are fully compliant for a Child-Safe Child-Friendly Environment including having WWC numbers and regular Working with Children training
• Children will be supervised at all times. Younger children will be accompanied by another student during toilet trips.
• Please assist us by signing in and out your child(ren) under 18 each day.
• If you are picking up other children, you should bring a letter from a parent/guardian authorising you to pickup/drop off. Please hand this to the reception on the first day.

End of Summer School Concert
• On Thursday 18th January we will all convene in the Robert Knox Hall from 2.00pm for a student concert
• Please let us know on registration if you do not want your child to be photographed
• Entry is free, however as there is limited space, only 2 family members per child will be able to attend.
However if we get more registrations than will fit in the Hall, we may move the concert to a bigger location. We will let you know on the Wednesday the location of the final concert.
If the concert is moved, it will be within walking distance and all children will be walked to the location.

• PICKUP TIME FOR MORNING ONLY PARTICIPANTS 12.30pm to 1.15pm (late pickup available but must bring lunch)
• Lunch 12.30pm to 1.15pm
• Afternoon sessions 1.15pm to 2.30pm
• Afternoon Tea 2.30pm to 2.45pm
• Late afternoon sessions 2.45pm to 3.30pm
• PICKUP TIME FOR AFTERNOON 3.30pm to 3.45pm
