The Central Coast Senior Wind Ensemble is a our flagship wind ensemble for talented high school student musicians in Years 8 – 12 (Grade 4 – 8 or equivalent)  who play woodwind, brass or percussion instruments and have gained a high-degree of musical proficiency on their instrument.

About Symphonic Wind Orchestra

Our flagship wind ensemble, SWE is well recognised for its high level of musicianship and its excellence in performance. They play a wide range of professional grade repertoire and challenges musicians to develop their sound and ensemble techniques. This ensemble rehearses and performs challenging repertoire that compliments and enhances the learning and performance experiences gained in one to one lessons and school band programs.

Conducting and Teaching Music Program

Members of the SWE are eligible to join apply for the Conducting and Teaching Music Program.

The Program offers senior high school & tertiary musicians the opportunity to extend their orchestral music education in conducting and musical pedagogy.

It provides essential skills and knowledge to help students develop as a musician, teacher, and conductor.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays 5.30pm – 7:30pm
Location: Presbyterian Church, 14 Young Street, West Gosford

Video Audition Requirements

Students interested in joining the SWE are invited to apply by submitting a video audition meeting the following guidelines:

  • auditionees must play one scale.
  • auditionees must play one or two pieces of music that demonstrate their current playing level and skills.
  • video is limited to 5 mins.
