More than 200 primary school musicians took part the Central Coast School Band Day Out at Narara Valley Baptist Church with sectionals, workshops and two afternoon concerts.
Participating students were from Central Coast schools who are part of the Conservatorium’s Schools Program. Our Schools Program offers individual or small group lessons in school – with Con teachers – and the opportunity to play with the school’s Training Band or Concert Band.
17 schools attended the event, and over 200 students broke up into two ‘mega bands’ – one for beginners and an intermediate level.
Students enjoyed participating in learning opportunities run by specialist instrumental teachers. They then presented an inspiring performance for their friends and family in the afternoon.
“It was a pleasure to watch the children playing and collaborating with other young musicians from other schools, under the batons of our experienced School Band tutors and conductors and to see the joy and satisfaction on their faces,” said Central Coast Conservatorium of Music CEO Dr Lisa Barnes.
“A highlight of the day was seeing the students come together to perform together at the end of the day and to see how much they had learned in just one day. Special thanks to all the Conservatorium staff for their participation on the day, to the teachers who attended from some of the participating schools and to the parents and families who stayed to watch the concert at the end.”
