New & Exciting Conducting & Music Teaching Course

The Central Coast Conservatorium of Music is thrilled to announce its new and exciting Conducting and Music Teaching Program.

“We are offering talented young musicians interested in developing as a musician, teacher, and conductor the opportunity learn conducting techniques, plan and deliver music performances, and more”, said Central Coast Conservatorium Artistic Director and Conductor, Patrick Brennan.

Built on the success of his NSSWE Plus Program and his conducting workshop delivered during the Conservatorium’s MUSIC WEEK, Patrick has always envisaged a conducting program for the Central Coast.

Moving the Conservatorium’s large ensemble rehearsals in 2020 to online workshops push forward the vision to reality. Students were introduced to practical skills, basic conducting techniques and the idea of conducting a chamber ensemble.

The online educational program culminated in a concert where all students performed from the podium to a live audience.

Member of the Central Coast Youth Orchestra (CCYO) for three years, 16-year-old trumpet player, Jaden Bridgeland commented after the concert.

“I’ve enjoyed those years, especially this year, with COVID-19, it has opened up opportunities including conducting and leading an orchestra, and the challenge has helped me extend my music ability. I recommend CCYO to anyone keen to join.”

Teacher-support staff Diane Gardner said, “I am amazed at how capable our young people can be. The program provides so much comprehensive and interactive personalised training.”

Under the leadership of Artistic Director and Conductor the new Conducting and Teaching Music Course is offered to tertiary and advanced high school students.
