Primary Wind Ensemble

The Central Coast Primary Wind Ensemble (PWE) is our entry-level band program for talented student musicians in Years 4 to 6 who play woodwind, brass or percussion instruments on the NSW Central Coast.

About Primary Wind Ensemble

The Central Coast Conservatorium Primary Wind Ensemble (PWE) is one of the Conservatorium’s Premier Ensembles and provides younger musicians in Years 4 to 6 the opportunity to develop their instrumental technique and ensemble skills and prepares them to transition to our NEW Junior Wind Orchestra. The Primary Wind Ensemble is our beginner wind band and aims to complement and enhance the learning and performance experiences gained in school band program. Participants must have been playing in their School Band Ensemble for at least one year.

Rehearsals: Monday 5.30 – 7.00pm
Location: Presbyterian Church, 14 Young Street West Gosford
Conductor: Phillip Rutherford

Video Audition Requirements

Students interested in joining PWE are invited to apply by submitting a video audition meeting the following guidelines:

auditionees must play one scale.
auditionees must play one or two pieces of music that demonstrate their current playing level and skills.
video is limited to 5mins.

Our Central Coast Premier Ensembles are open to all string, woodwind, brass and percussion students currently studying their instrument from primary age through to senior high school and tertiary students up to 23 years of age. These ensembles are graded by age and experience, with entry via successful audition. The Conducting extension program is open to advanced high school and tertiary level students who are members of an orchestral program. CCCM orchestral program alumni are invited to join by application to the artistic director Patrick Brennan. *Current members of the ensembles do not need to reapply*
