Make Waves with our School Holiday Music Program

We’re thrilled to introduce the inaugural Coastal Soundwaves Music Program, a three-day immersive camp and workshop experience for school-age musicians. Hosted by the Central Coast Conservatorium of Music and proudly sponsored by Central Coast Council, this camp focuses on instrumental and choral ensemble music-making while offering students unique opportunities for musical growth. The camp is open to school-age musicians in Years 4 to High School and will feature an Ensemble program (held at Gosford Presbyterian Church) and Musical Theatre for Beginners Program.

Over the course of the camp, students will refine their musical skills, collaborate with their ensembles, and prepare an exciting concert to share with family and friends. This is a fantastic opportunity to see what they have achieved and celebrate their musical journey. We invite all friends, family, and community members to attend this free concert and support these young musicians!

Soundwaves Ensemble Program

When: Tuesday 22 April – Thursday 24 April
Time: 9am – 4pm (early drop-off available from 8:30am)
Where: Gosford Presbyterian Church, 14 Young Street, West Gosford
Cost: $75 per child

The Soundwaves Ensemble Program aims to provide an enriching and enjoyable ensemble experience, helping students enhance their performance and collaboration skills while fostering new connections. Each day, participants will engage in:

  • Rehearsals and sectional tutorials
  • Guidance from some of NSW’s finest instrumental music teachers and conductors
  • The camp will culminate in a special concert featuring both ensembles on Thursday afternoon, open to family and friends.

Participants will be placed in on of the following ensembles:

Soundwaves Primary Wind Ensemble

  • For Year 4 to 6 students
  • Recommended AMEB Grade 1 or equivalent or have at least one year of experience in their school band
  • Conductor: Phillip Rutherford

Soundwaves Junior Wind Ensemble

  • For Year 6+ students
  • Recommended AMEB Grade 2+ or equivalent or have played with their school band for 2+ years
  • Conductor: Kevin Smith

Note: Students currently or recently enrolled in the Central Coast Conservatorium’s PWE, JWE, or Schools Program Concert/Chapman Bands are eligible to participate but must register.

Musical Theatre for Beginners

When: Tuesday 22 April – Thursday 24 April
Time: 9:30am – 12:30pm
Where: Robert Knox Hall, 45 Mann Street, Gosford
Cost: $75 per child

Immerse yourself in a vibrant three-day musical theatre adventure, tailored for primary school students in Years 4-6. Led by the talented Lana Nesnas, a WAAPA musical theatre graduate, and Kimberly Gilbert, an experienced musical orchestral director and choral expert, this camp promises an engaging and interactive experience.

The Musical Theatre Camp will include:

  • Warm-ups and Improvisation: Kick-start each day with dynamic warm-ups and engaging improvisation games to unleash your creativity.
  • Movement and Dance: Explore the world of dance through specially designed sessions that will get you moving and grooving.
  • Singing and Acting: Develop your vocal skills and acting techniques with expert guidance.
  • Script Work and Performance: Dive into script analysis and participate in both individual and group performance exercises to hone your stage presence.
  • Musical Theatre Numbers: Learn and perform a captivating musical theatre piece, perfecting your skills in a supportive and fun environment.
