Music teachers turned music students when staff took turns on the conducting podium at a Central Coast Conservatorium teacher professional development day in Gosford.
The conducting workshop – lead by Artistic Director and conductor Patrick Brennan – was part of a program of initiatives and training opportunities held on the first day of Term 3 at Robert Knox Hall. Staff members took turns at conducting the orchestra of music teachers  which included musicians on violin, viola, flute, clarinet, trumpet, saxophone, cello, trombone and bass guitar while other teachers observed the session.
The day was attended by CCCM staff and teachers and also included an informative presentation by CCCM music therapist Emma Townsend on understanding and teaching music to students with neuro-diversities.
Staff also participated in the Conservatorium’s future strategy by reviewing the current purpose and vision statements and giving insights from a teaching perspective on values and culture of the organisation.
