Five Central Coast Philharmonia Choir singers are set to join choristers from around the world in London for a special performance of Dan Forrest’s Lux in Southwark Cathedral in June.

The Central Coast Philharmonia Choir members (including two staff members from Central Coast Conservatorium of Music) have been invited to sing with choirs from Canberra, US, Spain, Portugal, France and the UK under the baton of American conductor, Dr Michael Lancaster to perform Lux: The Dawn from On High on 21 June in the historic London church.

The Lux performance will form one half of the Lux et Amor concert program organised by Vox Anima London. Conductor Randy Jordan will also be leading another massed chorus of voices in Elaine Hagenberg’s Illuminare, Alleluia and Deep Peace. Both Dan Forrest and Elaine Hagenberg will be at the concert and meet the singers at a special dinner after the show.

Con staff members, Marketing Manager Geraldine Cardozo and Events Coordinator Johnshu Myers are joining Philharmonia Choir President Libby Checkley and altos Jenny Dixon and Karen Tucker in representing the choir in the UK.

“After performing Lux at St John the Baptist Church in Woy Woy recently with Patrick Brennan and the Central Coast Youth Orchestra – which was a truly amazing experience – I can’t wait to sing it again, but this time in London’s historic Southwark Cathedral,” said Geraldine.

Libby said she was “super excited” to be taking part “and to be singing with a handful of Central Coast Philharmonia buddies in a choir of people from across the globe, and to meet Dan Forrest after singing – and loving – three of his works”.

Dr. Lancaster is Music Director of the Carolina Concert Choir and is also Director of Worship and Music at the First Presbyterian Church of Highlands, Highlands, NC, where he conducts the Chancel Choir and the Sacred Sounds Bell Choir. Randy Jordan is Artistic Director and Conductor of the Arlington Master Chorale in Texas.
