Postponed: Central Coast Philharmonia Lux concert

  • Post category:Latest News

The Central Coast Philharmonia’s Lux: The Dawn From On High concert scheduled for this Saturday, 26 November 2022, has been postponed after several choir members contracted COVID-19.

With a substantial portion of the choir testing positive to COVID-19 in the weeks leading up to the concert, also impacting our soloists, the Philharmonia has made the difficult decision to postpone the concert for the health and safety of other choir members and the community.

The choir was due to perform Dan Forrest’s 2018 choral work Lux with Central Coast Youth Orchestra and Central Coast Children’s Choir at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Woy Woy. A new date has been set for Saturday 25 February 2023.

Central Coast Philharmonia Musical Director, Patrick Brennan, said while he was saddened to do so, postponing the concert was about maintaining the integrity of the choir and putting the health and wellbeing of the choir members, and wider community, first.

“Unfortunately we have recently had a number of our choristers go down with COVID. So as well as making sure we protect our choir members and the Central Coast community, this is also about ensuring we honour the integrity of Dan Forrest’s music and give audiences the best experience.

“We have put a huge amount of effort into this concert, rehearsing for months, and are the first choir in NSW to be performing the piece which was composed in 2018. We want to make sure that we do the work justice and do ourselves justice by performing with a full choir in full voice. Lux is an incredibly beautiful piece of music for choir and orchestra and we need people to hear this how it should be heard. ”

“We are now looking forward to bringing this special work to Central Coast audiences at the same venue in February.”

The new concert date is:

  • Saturday 25 February, 2023
  • St John The Baptist, 125 Blackwall Road, Woy Woy

If you have already purchased tickets then your tickets will be valid for the new concert date. If you require a refund please request this through your tickets emailed to you by trybooking and if you have purchased a physical ticket from a choir member then your tickets will be refunded.
