Central Coast Conservatorium of Music in Gosford is pleased to be collaborating with the Australian Haydn Ensemble to present an intensive three-day orchestral course for students exploring music of the Baroque and Classical eras led by leading historical performance experts and teachers.
The three-day Australian Haydn Academy Spring Intensive orchestral course will be held at the CCCM campus in Mann Street, Gosford, from 27 to 29 September. The Australian Haydn Ensemble’s core musicians will join forces with students for the intensive, where they will be exploring the gems of the Baroque and Classical repertoire, elements of historically informed practice and period instrument practice.
There will be two streams – the Main AHE Academy Orchestral Course for high school students (Grade AMEB 6 or equivalent and above) and an Advanced AHE Period Instrumental Ensemble for tertiary and early professional level musicians.
The main AHE Academy Orchestral Course provides participants with an immersive and unique musical experience, strongly connected to eighteenth-century music and philosophies. The main orchestral group will perform on modern instruments at A440 pitch. AHE plans to make sure students will have the opportunity to try playing on gut strings and use baroque/classical bows as part of the experience.
Advanced students at a tertiary or early-stage professional level who have some prior knowledge of period instruments, or have been studying period instrument performance, will form an ensemble on period instruments at 415 pitch led by Artistic Director Skye McIntosh and other AHE principal musicians. All participants will have the chance to play alongside and perform with the members of the Australian Haydn Ensemble throughout the course and at the culminating concert performance.
There will be a final public concert performed by the group on 29 September at Gosford Anglican Church.
Course open to Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Flute, Bassoon, Horn, Oboe & keyboard (Harpsichordists welcome!). Applications are open to students from both metropolitan and regional areas.
