NEW Guitar Club and Kawai Sing Program coming in 2023

Could your child be a future Ed Sheeran or Taylor Swift? The Central Coast Conservatorium of Music is excited to be launching two brand new programs in 2023 – a Guitar Club and Kawai Sing Program.

We are currently taking expressions of interest from families whose children are interested in learning the guitar in a group setting or taking part in our new piano/singing program at the Conservatorium next year. Both the Guitar Club and Kawai Sing Program will be launched in Term 1 of 2023.

Guitar Club

Our new Guitar Club will be the Central Coast’s first comprehensive and cost-effective approach to learning guitar in a group environment.

The program is for all students in Years 5 and 6 (aged 10-12) regardless of their prior music experience or knowledge. Guitar Club members will learn to play the guitar in small groups on a weekly basis. The cost-effective music lessons will include group tuition and ensemble learning environments.

“This structured approach to learning enables these students to learn how to play the guitar as well as becoming part of a team that learns, grows and performs together,” said Central Coast Conservatorium of Music Artistic Director, Patrick Brennan.

“The aim of the Guitar Club is to create guitarists on the coast who read and play music while having fun with their friends,” said Central Coast Conservatorium of Music Artistic Director, Patrick Brennan.

“And one of the great things about Guitar Club will be that guitars will be available in class, ready and tuned for students to play on as soon as they turn up – so there’s no need to worry about delivering the student and instrument to the class.”

Additionally Guitar Club members can also attend guitar classes where they can learn to build upon the skills they are learning in their group lesson.

The Guitar Club will be run in small groups (five maximum) in the afternoon with CCCM’s expert guitar teachers Guy Strazz and Steve Smilie – both highly skilled teachers who play and teach all music styles. You can read about our guitar teachers HERE

Kawai Sing Program

The Kawai Sing Program is a weekly group keyboard class and vocal program for students in Year 3-4.

“This program is aimed at kids on the Coast who show a strong interest in music and also have an interest in singing but haven’t necessarily had any formal singing or keyboard lessons,” said Patrick.

“It  will be a cost-effective way of gaining music education that includes both singing and keyboard skills and gives students the ability to come together in a cohort to learn transferable skills on an instrument, as well as singing and to feel the joy of being involved in a group activity,” said Patrick.

Kawai Sing is a scholarship program sponsored by Kawai and is designed as a pathway program to keyboard and singing lessons. Entry into the program will be via audition.
