Sydney Symphony Orchestra Playerlink bootcamp heads to Albury

  • Post category:Latest News

Central Coast Conservatorium musicians aged 5-12 are invited to audition for Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s Playerlink Student Orchestral Workshop taking place in Albury this June.

This is the ultimate bootcamp for young talent, bringing together the best and brightest music students from across NSW for a series of masterclasses and workshops led by Sydney Symphony musicians.

Every year the Playerlink program is held in a region centre. Last year Central Coast Conservatorium bassoon student, Xavier Cardozo, was selected to attend Playerlink in Bellingen, where he was mentored by SSO Principal Contrabassoon Noriko Shimada.

“The whole experience was invaluable. I learned so much from Noriko and the other SSO musicians and made great friends with fellow musicians from all over NSW who I still keep in touch with,” said Xavier.

Playerlink helps students take their skills to the next level – and learn what it takes to perform like a professional.

During the workshop, students will participate in instrumental section tutorials mentored by the Sydney Symphony musicians. They will study orchestral parts focusing on aspects of musicianship such as posture, intonation, articulation, ensemble playing and interpretation. The weekend includes a free concert for family and friends.
